SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Judge Canon, the national sales director and owner of Statewide Furniture Liquidation, passed away on April 8.
Canon grew up in Lufkin, Texas, and began his career in retail as a teenager, working at his parents’ department store, Canon and Parker. After graduating from Baylor University in 1974 with a degree in political science, he returned to take over day-to-day operations of the family business, as well as expand into several more locations across east Texas.
In 2002, Canon transitioned into furniture sales, starting in liquidation for Furniture Options, in San Antonio. He was promoted to manager and eventually opened his own liquidation business, operating sales across Texas, the Southwest and East Coast.
Canon is survived by his sister, Beckie Canon; his son, Will Canon, and his grandson; and his life mate, step-son and step-grandson.
There will be an online service to celebrate his life at 3 p.m. CT on Oct. 10, followed by a Zoom gathering immediately after. Information for how to take part will be available beginning Oct. 3rd on his Facebook page.
Memorials may be made at the San Antonio Food Bank.
